I have worked for many years now in acrylic paint enjoying the versatility of this medium.
My favourite subject has always been animals.
I love to create the texture of the animals coat and enjoy using rake brushes to achieve the effect of fur.
The eyes, of course, bring the animal to life on the canvas and show each animal’s individual character.
During lock down, when we were allowed one walk each day, I took the path to the local, disused gravel pits, with a view over a Nature Reserve.
In that peaceful time I became very aware of the birdlife around me and so my painting took a new turn.
My rake brushes are still useful to create feathers rather than fur.
I have completed many commissions, as I love the challenge of painting something new and will attempt any subject.
I have entered the Dame Catherine Arts Exhibition since 2009 as it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase my work and have sales which are delightful, knowing that someone enjoys your work as much as you do creating it.
I work on canvas and lately have been working on stretched canvas so that the paintings do not need framing, but this can always be an option at a later date if preferred.
My paintings are strung ready for hanging.
