A regular contributor since the early days and now joining in from Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, Barry likes to keep in touch with Ticknall where so much of his work has found new homes. He has always drawn, often when he should be doing other less interesting things, like school work, meetings, lectures, shopping. After years working in science he decided teaching would offer more time for his art, short days and long holidays seemed ideal.
After years teaching in primary school he decided retirement was more likely to deliver the time needed for his art. He did manage to enthuse many of his pupils with a love of drawing ! Now he paints and draws and works on clay figures and when it is feasible he will continue the life drawing sessions he has run for the past twelve years.
As well as running occasional courses he exhibits regularly on the Island and participates in Open Studios . Lockdown was spent illustrating another book and working on a couple of clay figures, hardly noticing the time pass ! His work is in private collectons both here and abroad.
