Brian Benbow
During lockdown Brian walked regularly in Sutton Park when connection with the natural environment became even more important than usual. His current series of paintings have been inspired by this time.
Brian Benbow is Birmingham born and lives and paints in his home city. He is a retired primary school teacher who has attended a number of amateur art groups over the years and is a current member of Lichfield Society of Artists where he exhibits regularly. He has also exhibited in RBSA Open exhibitions.
For as long as Brian can remember he has drawn and painted, fascinated by capturing and distilling images. As a realist, he is interested in how painterly marks made on a surface can be interpreted subjectively, even if the intention is to create an objective image. He enjoys the physicality of handling of paint, working in oils, acrylic and water colour.
