Celia Brookes
Celia has loved drawing and painting since she was a young child. She loves the exciting way in which watercolour paint reacts and moves on the paper, particularly when using wet-in-wet technique. She finds that controlling a drop of paint and encouraging it in the direction that you want it to go is so thrilling. Celia loves the beauty and unpredictability of watercolours, some of which have won her prestigious awards at Patchings Open Art Competition 2013, 2015, and 2016. Leisure Painter Highly Commended Award 2016. The SAA Best Amateur for still life 2016 and The Best in Show at Ashby de la Zouch Art Festival 2017. Selected for Patchings Exhibition 2021 and was selected again in 2022, where she won an award for her Artwork, then again in 2022, Celia won The Derbyshire NHS Winner of “Looking Forwards” arts and crafts competition. Celia has shown her work at a Solo Exhibition at the Sock Gallery in the Loughborough Town Hall in 2019 and has been invited again to show her work at The Sock Gallery from October 19th to November 23rd 2023.
