Christine Evitts

Christine works in finance by day and is a fused glass artist in her spare time. Following a fused glass course at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland, Christine creates designs in her home studio in Durham. The glass Christine uses comes in many different forms such as powders, frit, stringers and sheet glass. Once cut and assembled, the designs are fired in the kiln at controlled temperatures to give the desired finish. Often, the pieces will go in to the kiln for up to 3 times with each firing taking up to 12 hours to complete. The glass affixed on to the front of the frame so that its tactile nature can be enjoyed. ‘I love the uniqueness of glass art and the way in which no two pieces are ever the same.’
