Clive Sayer

ARTIST STATEMENT CLIVE SAYER I was born in Salford, Lancashire and live in Sutton Coldfield. I started painting during retirement and have exhibited regularly at many local and national exhibitions since then. I have won some local and national awards including those for best painting and a Clarefontaine Award in a competition run by the Artist Magazine.. I enjoy trying to capture the interesting effects of colour and light in my paintings and try to find subjects that are a bit different from the usual run of things when I can. I paint mainly in acrylics but also use oils and pastels. I particularly admire the French Impressionist school of painters and also such artists as Walter Sickert, Toulouse Lautrec and David Hockney. I undertake commissions where I think I can do the subject justice.
