David Willey
David has held a passionate interest in art all his life but self employment and business interests didn’t allow much time to indulge or create but the burden was lifted in 2015 when retirement beckoned allowing him to resume his interest to a much greater degree. David is self taught and paints exclusively in oils. The majority of his current work depicts scenes of a coastal or nautical nature with particular emphasis on fishing harbours and villages. Earlier post retirement works have featured a wide range of shipping scenarios from abandoned wrecks and Clyde Puffers to transatlantic liners. Atmosphere and character are very important features of composition to David and he attempts to capture these attributes in his work.
