Deborah Hodgson

I have always enjoyed art and crafts but only started painting once I had given up work to start a family. Initially I joined a watercolour class which I enjoyed, but found the results, at times, disappointing so ventured into pastels, oils and acrylics which I now use most of the time. I joined the Sutton Coldfield Society of Artists in the early 90s and have exhibited with them each year in their spring and autumn exhibitions. I primarily paint landscapes, attempting to capture the effect of light and colour on the subject matter but am always looking for different inspiration. I’ve had paintings exhibited at the Patchings Festival in The Artist and Leisure Painter categories, the National Fine Art Competition at Weston Park and the Artist of the Year Competition. A couple of my paintings have also been selected as “Editor’s Choice” in The Artist and The Leisure Painter magazines.
