Di Lorriman

I am Di Lorriman, a professional artist, illustrator and cartoonist.

My painting style has been described as tonal with interesting light effects – and hopefully it is!

I particularly enjoy painting landscape in watercolour and sometimes I reach for my pen and add texture with some inkwork. You may well have seen me painting en plein air in Ticknall, Calke Abbey or the surrounding countryside?

I am also an urban sketcher and enjoy spending time drawing from life in cafes and at music events. Lockdown curbed that activity a little, but I still draw unsuspecting people who pass by the bench I’m sitting on!

I use my sketches of people to inform figurative work, caricatures and cartoons etc. I am an elected member of The Cartoon Club of Great Britain and regularly submit cartoons for publication.

I have researched and completed a number of posters concerning local history. These can be viewed at Ashby de la Zouch’s Museum and also at Ashby Wetherspoons.

I run painting courses here in the Midlands.
