Janet paints mainly in watercolour but also enjoys ink, gouache, acrylics, charcoal and pastel as alternative media.
Her work has been exhibited in many places across the UK and also sells in Gozo, Malta; her paintings have been selected for the annual City Gallery Shows in Leicester and she has exhibited in Nottingham as a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists, at the Ferrers Galley, Staunton Harold and at the Melbourne Arts Festival where she won the Open Prize in 2010.
A Shropshire lass by birth, Janet Mayo has lived in the East Midlands for most of her life, working in broadcasting for many years, first on BBC Radio Leicester and later becoming a news presenter and journalist for BBC TV East Midlands Today. Janet was the first ‘voice’ of the London Underground trains on the Central Line.
Janet paints landscapes, flowers, figures and portraits and is happy to take commissions for any subject.
